Charity & Service

At Sidcup Lodge we pride ourselves on trying to raise money for charity much of which goes unpublished. Charity is on of the key tenets of Freemasonry and as a group we are the second largest donator of grants behind The National Lottery at nearly £1,000,000 per week.

We regularly donate to Masonic and non Masonic charities such as Great Ormond Street Hospital, Children in Need, The Avenues, Red Nose Day, Age UK Bexley and Head Strat to name a few. To date the members of Sidcup Lodge have donated £30,066 to the West Kent 2026 Festival which has earnt us a Silver award. This money is then allocated to charities, hospices, persons in distress etc via the Masonic Charitable Foundation. All funds are raised from within the Lodges and no external funding is sought.

Recently the term Charity has been "updated" in Freemasonry and replaced with Service to properly reflect the community contributions Freemasons have made over the last 300 years.

Freemasonry does a huge amount for medical research into treatments for cancer, diabetes, heart disease and a whole range of other conditions, including Alzheimer's, by funding UK medical scientists to make ground breaking discoveries.
